Ronalyn Hermano, Preschool Director, Preschool Rm. 2 Teacher
BA Liberal Studies: Early Teaching and Learning, CSU Dominguez Hills When I first visited SCL Preschool, the people here were quite welcoming and friendly. In a short period of time, they made me feel like this was a community I wanted to become a part of. I was very blessed to be given an opportunity to be a part of the Preschool staff in early May 2014. I believe that the first few years of a child's life are very important and that it's essential to their growth that they are guided in the right direction. It is said that, "Children cannot become self disciplined unless adults teach them the right from wrong" (-anonymous). It is up to us, as adults, to prepare them for their future because they are our future. When I was in Kindergarten myself, I was inspired by my teacher, I wanted to be just like her. As I grew older, I knew I wanted to be a part of a child's beginning, where they learn to read, to eventually being able to read in order to learn. Young minds are very fascinating to me and their imagination is limitless. As an aide and an aspiring teacher, I will strive to provide useful knowledge, support and encouragement to all students that I encounter. Within this journey of mine, I hope to be able to continue to learn and improve myself in all aspects of life. I am thankful to be a part of this family. |
Annalisa Prieto, Assistant Preschool Director
BA Human Services, CSU Dominguez Hills MA Curriculum & Instruction, Concordia University, Irvine I believe the first five years of a child's life are the most important for development as a lifelong learner. Working with children at this wondrous age is truly a gift. Each child comes to school with so much joy, curiosity, and zest for life and learning. I believe a stimulating, child-centered setting, which offers a safe and developmentally appropriate environment where children can learn self-discipline and have the opportunity to make good choices is vital. Children thrive in an atmosphere where they are encouraged to make choices, communicate thoughts and feelings in a positive way, and accept responsibility for their actions; a setting where children learn social skills that will last a lifetime. St. Catherine Labouré Preschool has experienced and devoted teachers who create challenging opportunities for children, inspiring them to do great things. "Passion isn't something that is created but rather the results of the conditions under which learning is allowed to occur."- Sir Ken Robinson. |
